COPA Campaigning Priorities 2023-24

At the COPA AGM November 2022, Voting Members debated and agreed the campaigning priorities that Cymru Older People’s Alliance should pursue for the next 12 months.

COPA Voting Members debated the issues of most relevance to the lives of older people in Wales and which of these should be identified as campaigning priorities for the next year. The following were agreed as the top 5 campaigning issues:

• Impact of Cost-of-Living Pressures on Older People
• Recovery of Society from the Pandemic
• Digital Inclusion
• Action to address Isolation and Loneliness
• Fair Funding of Social Care

Whilst these 5 priorities are meant to guide COPA and local forums and groups in their efforts to represent older people, they are of course not the only issues that are important to older people. Also agreed were a range of other issues that impact on the lives of older people and require attention. Policy and politics are of course dynamic processes and new issues of concern to older people will emerge at any time. COPAs approach will be sufficiently flexible to react to such changes.
