That Voting Members agreed the campaigning priorities that Cymru Older People’s Alliance should pursue for 2025-26 at the AGM in November 2024. COPA Trustees and Forum Representatives discussed the issues of most relevance to the lives of older people in Wales and which of these should be identified as campaigning priorities for the next year. Following a comprehensive debate, the issues proposed as the top campaigning were:
- Health and Social Care
- Digital Inclusion
- Tackling Isolation and loneliness
- Impact of Cost-of-Living Rises
- Age Friendly Communities
- Fair Funding for Social Care
Whilst these priorities are meant to guide the COPA Board and local forums and groups in their efforts to represent older people, they are of course not the only issues that are important to older people. The COPA Campaigning Priorities Paper attached therefore sets out a range of other issues that impact on the lives of older people and require attention. Policy and politics are of course dynamic processes and new issues of concern to older people will emerge at any time. COPAs approach must be sufficiently flexible to react to such changes.
