Ann Davies (Left above), Secretary of Taff Ely 50+Forum and her friend Alice Pugh who is also a Forum member used to swim several lengths in the Lido in Pontypridd early every morning. Sadly the Lido had to close after being badly affected by the flooding in the park earlier this year. The damage to the Lido was so bad that it will not reopen until next Easter. The ladies decided to walk around the park for their daily exercise and during August Ann completed 100 miles for Bone Cancer research raising funds of £400.
When the second lockdown was announced Ann and Alice decided to spend the last day on 17th September walking up Pen y Fan , they took 1 hour 40 minutes up and 1 hour 20 minutes down. A lady they met was so impressed by the energy and spirit of these two ladies in their early 70s that she rang Radio 2 the following day to give them a mention. Needless to say Taff Ely 50+Forum are so proud of both of them.
